You have no doubt seen or heard the commercials: "Where does depression hurt? EVERYWHERE. Who does depression hurt? EVERYONE." Mental illnesses can consume you, take over your entire life and hurt everyone around you if you let it. I am no exception.

My life feels like I am stuck riding on a rollercoaster in the middle of a hurricane. I have ups and downs, and I have left a path of destruction in my wake. My sanity dangles on a tiny fragile string, and through this blog I am giving the world a look into my broken mind and my unstable life.

In the end, I am just a girl trying to maintain my sanity in a candy-coated world of misery. Here you'll get a glimpse at just how true those commercials are. Keep your arms and legs inside the blog at all times, hold on tight, and prepare yourself for a very bumpy ride ...

Another song I'm currently loving

The song "According to You" by Orianthi has been around for a few months, but I've just recently started to love it. It reminds me so much of how my boyfriend sees me compared to all my past romantic partners. I heard so many negative things in my past relationships (and even from my abusive father), but not with this boyfriend. My boyfriend is so supportive about everything. I guess I never fully realized how much those negative words in the past affected my self-esteem. I feel so much better about myself now.

"According to You" lyrics

According To You
I'm stupid,
I'm useless,
I can't do anything right.
According to you
I'm difficult,
hard to please,
forever changing my mind.
I'm a mess in a dress,
Can't show up on time,
Even if it would save my life.
According to you. According to you.

But according to him
I'm beautiful,
Incredible,
he can't get me out of his head.
According to him
I'm funny,
Irresistible,
Everything he ever wanted.
Everything is opposite,
I don't feel like stopping it,
So baby tell me what I got to lose.
He's into me for everything I'm not,
According to you.

According to you
I'm boring,
I'm moody,
You can't take me any place.
According to you
I suck at telling jokes cause I always give it away.
I'm the girl with the worst attention span;
You're the boy who puts up with it.
According to you. According to you.

But according to him
I'm beautiful,
Incredible,
He can't get me out of his head.
According to him
I'm funny,
Irresistible,
Everything he ever wanted.
Everything is opposite,
I don't feel like stopping it,
So baby tell me what I got to lose.
He's into me for everything I'm not,
According to you.

I need to feel appreciated,
Like I'm not hated. oh-- no--.
Why can't you see me through his eyes'
It's too bad you're making me decide.

Good song. Music can and will effect mood, proven fact. Upbeat songs in major keys tend to make people happy, and slow minor key songs can evoke stronger and usually negative emotion, regardless of the style of music, instruments, etc. Never discredit music's therapeutic effect. ;-)
