You have no doubt seen or heard the commercials: "Where does depression hurt? EVERYWHERE. Who does depression hurt? EVERYONE." Mental illnesses can consume you, take over your entire life and hurt everyone around you if you let it. I am no exception.

My life feels like I am stuck riding on a rollercoaster in the middle of a hurricane. I have ups and downs, and I have left a path of destruction in my wake. My sanity dangles on a tiny fragile string, and through this blog I am giving the world a look into my broken mind and my unstable life.

In the end, I am just a girl trying to maintain my sanity in a candy-coated world of misery. Here you'll get a glimpse at just how true those commercials are. Keep your arms and legs inside the blog at all times, hold on tight, and prepare yourself for a very bumpy ride ...

How Do You Mend a Broken Heart

1. How did you cope with your biggest heartache?
By drinking a lot and sleeping with strangers. It wasn't really a good idea

2. Who was the last person you visited in the hospital?
My mom after she had a surgery

3. How many jobs have you held in your life? How many of those were part of your chosen career field?
Um, let's see... 1) teacher's personal assistant, 2) movie theater concession stand worker, 3) pizza restaurant hostess, 4) math/reading/science tutor, 5-7) newspaper intern (at three different newspapers), 8) newspaper staff writer/graphic designer/photographer, 9) newspaper graphic designer/editor, 10) mystery shopper. I guess that means five of them were in my career field (journalism)

4. How did you discover Saturday 9?
I was bored and looking for something to do. I suppose I did a Google search for questionnaires or something

5. If you could take the train from anywhere to anywhere, where would 'anywhere' be?
I'm happy where I am

6. When was the first time you cooked for someone else?
I used to help my mom cook dinners for our family after age 12 or so

7. What is the worst beverage you've ever tasted?
It was some sort of whiskey

8. Is there anything in life you are "certain" about? Firm in your beliefs? Strong in your convictions?
I am certain that there is a higher power. I believe in God, but it's not the exact God that is described in the Bible

9. Do you know anyone who has as very unusual pet?
I worked with someone who had flying squirrels as pets. Those things were super cute

Great answers. My husband drinks really good scotch. I hope it is great for what it costs. :-)

I always wanted to work at the movie theater concession stand. When I was in high school, those jobs got snapped up right away, so I spent my high school career babysitting. Did I miss anything? Was it fun?

Ehh, working at the movie theater had some benefits... like seeing all the movies we wanted to see for free on our off days.

But it was stressful because it got super busy right before each movie showing, and we would get swamped. Customers got really mean sometimes.

Our boss was stingy when it came to letting us eat/drink on the job. We could have one free small soda and a thing of popcorn per shift. We would secretly sneak candy when no one was watching us. That part was fun. We would come up with weird food combinations using food. I discovered that Milk Duds dipped in nacho cheese was actually a really good combination
